[sdiy] asm2 vco problems

i had a j108 in...the vco worked when i touched it with my finger....so i tried replacing it..BUT turns out i dont have a j108. i DO have an mpf102 and 2n5457..but then i wasnt sure if the pinout was the reverse or the same (couldnt find a j108 datasheet)


i have a feeling the jfet might be part of the issue...god i hope so....


one strange thing...i tested the resistance (or continuity) from the gate of the CAP to the output (pin 7) of the lm311....i expected it to be zero but it was more like 100...is that because the the 311 or the jeft has a very high input resistance?
