oh and also, if the switches are at fault, let me ask

should i be able to do this modification with ANY ON-ON-ON dpdt switch?

the c&K 7211 are expensive and pcb mount...so i was looking for cheaper options.

I tested my HKSS switches for the mod by attaching a 9v power source with a 1k resistor to the INPUT of the switch. i then connected the three outs to three different LED'S with their second legs all tied to gnd. 2 lit up, the third did not.
