[sdiy] Storing ICs (and static sensitivity) - how much to worry? (Products)

I've always kept my ICs in normal cheap plastic drawers and never had a
problem. True I do usually keep them pushed into black antistatic foam
cut to fit the drawers (especially more expensive ICs and anyway it
helps make finding the right IC easier). Some of the cheaper ICs are
just chucked in the drawers loose and even with these I've never had a
problem .. maybe I've just been lucky? I do make a point of touching
earth to ground myself before handling ICs.
