Sony did some chips with their own numbers on it,  I remember running across 
some of them in older VCRs and such,  but for the most part what Sony gear I 
have I just use,  without getting into it and messing with it.  It just 
works.  That includes a TV I brought with me when I moved to this state -- in 
1978!  Also a receiver that's almost that old.  And one or two other bits.

Kenwood?  I can't remember the last time I saw one,  never mind getting into 
one.
