[sdiy] OB-12 screen repair help

My beloved OB-12 has developed the common black lines on the screen and I 
was wondering if anyone has any experience in fixing these. Maybe someone 
who knows how lcds work might be able to tell if its a damaged screen or 
something else. Basicaly there are about 10-12 lines that are premanently 
black, they dont respond to inverting the screen either. I have checked the 
ribbon cable connecting to the screen and it seems OK. Any ideas? These 
synths have a long hisotry of problems with the screens, either with the 
same problem I have or flickering/dying backlights.

I'm guessing I'll need to replace the screen which will be a pain to source 
since Viscount has completly disowned this synth.
