Pot linearity and alignment with panel graphics is always a problem.
Many pots have wide dead bands at extreme pot rotations and circuit 
loading of the pot adds to the problem.

Try to keep the ratio of pot value to connecting summing resistor or 
whatever to 1:10 if possible.
This minimizes linearity problems.
Having said this I wouldn't have 30V across a 1K pot.
If you need super accuracy on the graphics put a piece of card on the 
panel and mark off knob positions on the card for specific performance
values and then transfer to panel graphics artwork by scanning the 
card or some other method.
