[sdiy] Voltcraft PSU smells bad

Hi synth friends,

Couple of months ago I picked up a used Voltcraft Laboratory Power  
Supply PS-302A. Unfortunately when I work with it it smells terrible.  
I opened up the thing and looked inside if I can find something  
suspect. There was a wire close to the 5W sink resistors already  
partially burned. I moved it aside . But the smell is more like a   
capacitor that is short.
I can't identify where the smell is coming from but from the cover I  
see there was a burning or almost burning issue since there is a  
little part brown from the heat . Although I have to say that it is  
right above the two 5W resistors.
Any suggestions what it could be ?
