Clamping the pcb while drilling? No. I never have. I wear hearing
protection and eye protection and just place the board by hand. I've done
this, sadly, for hundreds of boards in a single session. In a past job we
had eurocrates full of slightly different boards so it didn't make sense to
try and do fab runs of them, all of them were made by hand and all had to be
drilled by hand.
One thing that helps a lot is sitting at the right level. Typically the
table will be too high so you are looking down past the drill, closer to
face level seems to work better for alignment. Also another trick is mount
your dremel ( or other highspeed drill ) near the edge of your bench so the
handle overhangs, this way you can rig up a foot pedal to depress the drill
so you can use both hands for alignment. Its not that hard to rig up.
