Probably basic stuff to some of you, but I'm more of a digital guy than 
analog. This app note gives the basics on using JFETs as voltage 
controlled resistors - including a clear description of how to linearize 
the response.

I had a question a while back about why in the YuSynth VCS3/Synthi 
filter part of the resonance feedback signal is coupled into the gate of 
the FET.  This app note makes it clear.  May also explain a recent 
question about the same question regarding a Buchla design.
