Unfortunately no - that's an optical S/PDIF port that can't be used for
MIDI.

Most mfgs. support either I2C (two-wire) or SPI (3/4-wire) serial
protocols these days. They're incredibly easy to use. There were a few
variations on these (eg NatSemi's Microwire) which can usually be fudged
to work with the serial I/O peripherals on modern MCUs.
