One might wonder why, in this day and age, one would want a motorized disk
strobe tuner. Here is one argument I found in an advertisement:
"The strobe display is driven directly by the input signal from the musical
instrument. All other tuners except a rotating disk strobe tuner must
digitally process the signal using a microprocessor. There is zero lag
between changes to the tuning of the instrument and the display."
I'm pretty sure a universal motor isn't going to be synchronous, BTW.
