me: 44
started building synths (and FX) in 1983. ICL8038! VCOs. built a rhythm 
generator with SN76495.   working in telephonie by 1985, which helped. books 
by Barry Klein, Craig Anderton, Hal Chamberlin. PAIA catalog, eventually 
Electro-Notes by Bernie Hutchins. first synth i ever heard was Wakeman (YES) 
Close to the Edge when i was 13, hooked. later Eno/ROXY, Cluster, Tangerine 
Dream, ELP, bought a Moog Sonic Six in '78.

haven't built a circuit in 6 years but i do still have a box of finished 
pcbs and so i will post an on-topic next...
