[sdiy] Vocoder question

Hi,

As said in an earlier post, I'm working on improving my 32-bands
vocoder design, and there's something I had in mind for quite a
long time and on which I'd like some opinions : to reduce signal
bleedthrough (when there's no signal at the voice input), could it
be a good idea to turn off the carrier input (via some electronic
switch)
when the levels of all the control voltage outputs from the analyzer
section are below a certain level ?
I first thought of using an amp follower on the carrier input to gate
the voice input, but then had the feeling that using the analyzer
section
outputs could be more accurate ans less "brutal"...

Thanks,
JB
