[sdiy] The Okita Vocoder & others: which to make??? Quite a quandry...

Seems like quite a few list members try to decide whether
to build or not to bulid an analog vocoder.
(as there's this promising alternate DSP route..)

In order to archieve the "standart analog" vocoder sound,
the okita design seems to be hard to beat in terms of simplicity.
It lacks an voiced/unvoiced detecter though. (could be added)
And as Juergen pointed out, it's not possible to alter the envelope
follower signal.

the ETI vocoder uses the same bandpass configuration
(two detuned 2 Pole BPs), and has component values
for 14 bands vs. the 10 bands the okita uses.
so this could be a start for a modded 14 band okita design.

OTOH the "10 band sound" could just be what you want..

(trying to make decision too)
