NTE are not manufacturers.
They are suppliers of replacement & substitute parts for repairers.
If you look at their printed catalog, you will see that (usually)
any particular NTE part is suggested as a replacement for quite a few
different parts.
Sometimes, as in the case of the substitute for the CA3080, it is an exact
match - because the NTE CA3080 is either a LM3080 or a CA3080 with the NTE
part number painted on top.
I'm not knocking NTE - a hell of a lot of stuff has been kept going by NTE
parts.
But, before buying an NTE part, I think it might be best to check the specs
for the original part, then search for parts that match those specs, if you
can.
And whether you can get away with a 'close' match - well, that depends on
the circuit.
