[sdiy] is it possible to change the compression ratio of an ne570/571?

i have been proofreading the re-release of thomas henry's great book-making music with the 570 compander. its a great book which will soon be available from magic smoke for sale. (you should also check out their other thomas henry books!!)

however, the compressor listed in the book as a project has a ratio of only 2:1. there is an ALC compressor listed that goes up to 10:1 shown so it must be possible to get higher ratios in a regular compressor config.

anyone know how? is it a matter of changing the external gain resistors?

thanks
