Depends...
Copyrights are for a fixed amount of time...but I can guarantee that
copyrights for any vintage gear you run across is still in force.
Copyright violations are generally a civil matter. Just like patent
violations. It generally takes an injured party in order for any action
to be taken.
Best course of action...if you can locate the copyright holder...ask
permission. This is the least risky.
Second best course of action...don't worry. If you are talking about a
few boards here and there, chances are nobody is going to care.
I got stiffed once by a customer for $20K. I talked to my layer about
it...he said..."forget it" $20K wouldn't even cover the legal fees.
So, if you aren't doing a wholesale busines in clones...you probably
just don't have to worry.
Most of that old stuff the originators probably don't really care about
one way or the other.
