When you say 'standard size', do you mean ones rated for 110 or 230 V AC
power switches?
Because if you do, these aren't intended for audio use.
In power switches, it is assumed that the switch contacts will be cleaned by
the arc when they break contact. But an audio switch is a much more
particular beast.

(if you mean, the switches break into pieces, then that's a different thing
altogether.. I've never had a jameco switch break myself, though.)
