[sdiy] Theremin tone/waveform' question

I asked something like this before, but with no replies - maybe I was not
specific enough..

When I listen to a traditional RF heterodyne theremin, I think that the
waveform - and hence tone - varies as one moves through the audio band.
And I expect that some or all of this is because of 'pulling' between the
oscillators - that is to say, if one were to examine the waveform of the
output, you would see some distortion as the frequency changes.

If that is true, then is there any way that one can simulate a theremin
sound, using standard analog synth modules?

Perhaps someone has some genuine theremin samples to hand, and can actually
examine the waveform at various frequencies & describe them!
After all, the theremin is a monophonic device, so it must be possible to
make a fairly faithful replica.

Do the waveform changes vary according to whether the oscillator is shifting
rapidly or slowly? Any opinions welcome!
