[sdiy] MKS30 memory expander! Late breaking news..

Hot out of the van. Some years back I tried to make a memory cartridge
some might recall for MKS70. Which while it would be nice, isn't nearly
as precious as it would be for the MKS30 since that one doesn't support
bulk dump of course. However I ran into strange problems. You could
write any single patch any time with integrity on the MKS70. However I
missed something in the design which looked like it should work on
paper. At the same place in EVERY bulk dump data would start corrupting
in exactly the same way. Bank 1 would write ok as I recall then things
would start going bizarre.
I threw my hands up and set it aside. For some reason it didn't occur
to me until recently that the same might just work in the MKS30 though
of course. 16 banks of memory! Of course we could get even MORE if we
switched the unused data lines and I might put dip switches for that
purpose on there so that someone can store even more sounds if they want
to. Though I think probably 16 banks would last most people a lifetime :-)
So now I have to figure how to get it into a box. Tell your friends and
if I have enough pre-orders maybe we can get this thing into a housing
at a reasonable price. Since I have no idea what that'll cost on top
of the pain so far on this project I can't give any firm price at this
point but I'll try to make it as reasonable as possible. -Bob
