Hi Eric,

If the Pandora does not make it into production there are alternatives 
as well. The Pandora is just cool because you get the keyboard, housing 
and a LCD-Screen. There are other alternatives that sell a bare Omap3 
board. It has everything for audio though, and at a lower price.

Regarding the battery live:

Well - I work on forerunner of the Omap3 for the automotive market. That 
thing has a less powerfull ARM core (Arm9 at ~~300Mhz) , a more 
powerfull DSP (C64x+ ~~550Mhz) and no graphics accelerator.

That thing crunches numbers just as well as the Omap3 and consumes below 
100mW even under heavy load. If you don't stress the PowerVR accelerator 
of the Omap3 to much It should be similar.

The nice thing is: I can spank the DSP as much as I like for hours and 
the housing of the chip does not show even a faint of heat. They don't 
have a cooler on it. I don't have the faintest idea why.
