Thanks Tony - and everyone else who responded.

So, based on the fact that most wall warts these days are putting out more power than their rating - would it be safe to presume that most commercially available 15VAC wall warts will at least happily power a +/-15 power supply - something like the Ray Wilson/MFOS one - or the Oakley one? - which is pretty much what got me onto this idea in the first place?

I'm asking for two reasons - one is that I was under the impression that voltage regulators like the 78XX series were better served by having an input a couple of volts above the output (which is why I was initially after an 18 VAC adapter) and two - I'd like to be 'reasonably' sure that if someone uses a different - say 15VAC - wall wart, they'll still get something approaching +/- 15 Volts.

I know that's a little like asking how long a piece of string is, but like I said, I'll settle for a solution that lets me move my projects forward a few steps for now.
