NJ > A good all-round electronic cleaner is isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
Good for scrubbing off flux, wiping down panels, etc.

But IPA will also remove some paint coatings such as the white legending
on a Moog Rogue, and the silver and red coatings on Roland TB-303s and
SH-101s. Always test first.

IPA tends to leave smears on Schaeffer panels. Not quite sure why, but I
tend to wash off panels with soapy water afterwards if I can.

Never had a problem with IPA on keys though. I usually use water and a
bit of elbow grease first, then soapy water, and it that doesn't get it
off then I try IPA. Also, the citrus oil based solvents (eg. 'Sticky
stuff remover' from Lakeland) are useful sometimes too.

Keys can be polished to shininess again with Brasso/Duraglit wadding. As
can scratched CDs too, but that's a different subject.
