Hi,
A good all-round electronic cleaner is isopropyl alcohol (IPA). Good for scrubbing off flux, wiping down panels, etc. Widely available too - I recently bought a fresh 1L can from Maplin (who say it is "safe on plastics", part number RE71N).
As with _any_ cleaning process its always worth trying it out on a small bit somewhere inconspicuous first if you've never tried a particular combination before.
You really don't want to use nail varnish remover. Its acetone-based, and merrily eats its way through many plastics (as I keep telling the lady wife when she's cleaning her claws around the house). Except the type of plastic that the bottle of nail varnish remover is sold in, of course :)
Oh, and if you're worried about ABS, don't leave PVC insulated cables touching the surface - the plasticizer in the PVC slowly attacks the ABS and leaves channels in the surface. I've seen this several times inside ABS plastic boxes where the internal wiring loom has laid against the side of the case.
