I had to, I use it in my day job too.
Eagle (light) is still the best free schematic editor/PCB layout
software that runs under Mac OS (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so
I use it for my DIY projects too. I tried Epoxy a few years ago, and
while its concept is much clearer than Eagle's, it had too many
quirks to be usable.
But Eagle does have its quirks too. Would someone expect that
parameters of a function called "design rule CHECK" actually alter
the design? The Restring parameters do this for instance.
