I actually got mine 3 weeks ago (right after the New Year), just fired it up
tonight.
a) it is obvious that my board was hand soldered.
b) when I put the CD in the drive, it thrashed around for at least 5min
before the install/home screen appeared. At first I thought the disc was
dirty and I cleaned it off :) And this is a very fast dual-core Dell.
c) there is a pre-loaded app that has a setting (via DIP switch) for
outputting 1Khz sine waves on the 3 stereo outputs. Oddly, mine outputs
913Hz sine waves. Hmmm.......
d) On Page 9 of the manual there is a long tutorial for
re-compiling/building the pre-loaded demo project. Except the files are not
included (at least I can't find them!). The text refers to "..set the
browser to the demo application workspace archive, and then Open." OK, and
where would THAT be, exactly??!?
e) there are 2 very small code examples, 1 in assembly and 1 in C, that do
*nothing* but increment a register. Think they could have done something a
bit more...errrr...USEFUL?
BTW: the IC used on this board has a *minimum* order of 90pcs and it's about
$13.00 at that quantity.
