Ideally a PCB for a Dim D emulation should give you the choice to either use 
3007s or 3207s.
Local voltage regulator for BBD supply and level shifting for the clock 
signals.
So you can use the old or the new chips, and just choose some resistor 
values for the local voltage and signal drive level accordingly.
No problem to design this; must see how much overhead it means in terms of 
board space, though.
