Hi from Austria!
>So I've got one of the 6-channel drum brains and two of the two-channel expanders.
>The little ones work great, but the large one powers up for a bit and then dies with a little thump.
>I'm pretty sure it's in the power supply, but aren't sure where to start.
>I'm pretty sure from the schematics that the power supplies put out +15v, -15v, +5v, and ground.
>My intention all along was to remove the guts from their rusty cases and re-house them, adding MIDI.
>I just so happen to have a Power One supply that is set up to put out those voltages (purchased for
>an MOTM system). So, I could ditch the old supplies, rehouse them with the new supply and a
>MIDI to trigger converter and be on my way, right? Thoughts?
If you have the TS305:
As far as I read in the schematics the voltages are +15v, -15v, +6v, and ground. But there are also other
schematics that only show +15v, -15v.
For the MIDI interface I recommend Paul Maddox MIDI2SDS interfaces.
I installed the old version of the MIDI2SDS in my Tama Techstar TS305 and it works really fine!

Paul Maddox pages that no longer exist at this location)
The correct location is http://www.vacoloco.net/synths/midi2sds/
