this is why i limited the test to a small set of harmonics

interesting, i just tried in sound forge with 2 sines
(120 and 240) and the difference is subtle but there...
i'm pretty sure this has to do with the speaker driver.
is it possible to get frequency distortion in a speaker??
i'm hearing this one as a tiny pitch change
