I rebuilt my scanner and replaced the AC motor with a small DC motor. 
It doesn't take much power to spin this scanner.

I updated my site with some additional photos. I redid the audio 
sample with the chorus switch in both positions. Opening this switch 
on the delay line really increases the effect. The 'clunking' that 
was in the original sample seems to be an artifact of the mp3 
encoding process so the sample is a wave file.
