And that is to be expected in the most part based on the subject.  
Synths became popular in popular music around the time we were  
listening to popular music. A few of us may have been a bit older when  
synths rolled into the electronics arena and a few of us grew up after  
this time and looked towards the roots of digital era. Thus, I would  
expect a baby boomer median age.

However, there are other interest lists I am on where the age spread  
is much broader. I wouldn't use this list as a good example for your  
mother, but then on the other hand, if she wanted to get into DIY  
synths, this would be the place to join.
