Another median ager - 42 in March.

Got my first synth, An EDP wasp, in '78 just after it came out. Have
played in a few bands (mostly for fun) and scratched a living as a
sound engineer for the last 20 years, but was always too busy actually
using audio toys to want take them apart to see how they ticked. Had
always soldered up patchbays and leads, but had never studied
electronics, so couldn't really go much further....
Back in '04, found a Maplin SSM2044 filter kit in the attic, that had
been bought in the 90's to rack mount, then forgotten about. Google
threw up a few synth DIY sites, and since then have been happily
building, hacking, and trying to divine the mysteries of analogue
circuits.

Affordable polyphony was a holy grail back in the late 70s/early 80s,
and curiously, it still is now for me, but for analogue DIY. The best
seems to be 4-note from Paul Maddox's polyDAC, and 8 from the midibox
CV (but without velocity info....)

cheers,
Dave
