Ah, but what is "instantaneous"? I'd say this discussion roots in the 
usual "what does analog/digital mean" debate, where the main point is 
that digital systems operate in discrete steps (time, resolution) 
whereas analog systems do not.

Analog does have latency, too, and if it is just the time it takes an 
electron traversing the circuitry -- something which is (ironically) 
increasingly hampering digital designers as you can see from shrinked L1 
caches in high-speed architectures and pipeline stages named "drive".
