I use all those when doing SMDs.
What I find key is having a smaller gauge of solder. 0.02 or 0.015 but 0.015 works best for me. You'll find that SMT doesn't take as much solder as thru hole. What this does is allow you to feed less solder to the solder joint. So with my old shaky hands I lot of movement puts less solder in the joint.
