I played with the registration part of it with an iSight camera
and either my old Mac Cube or the first Mini (did this sometime
ago so don't remember which machine I used).  Anyway, decent
webcam will work.  The registration marks are high-contrast
B&W.  The tracking was a bit iffy but it was trying.

As for performance behavior...  No reason to restrict it to two
hands, invite other people.  You could also make people (or
house pets or insects) wear the registration marks and point a
camera at them.  Make some 'Andre the Giant' stickers and start
tagging buses.  Have a city-wide performance.
