Yeah I would forget about using the MM5837N. You can use just about any
digital noise source circuit. Usually it consists of a bunch of shift
registers and soem other logic and some filter choices for different noise
colors.

The noise source for the Elektor Vocoder is a cool one. Lemme know and I can
attach it to a reply. (I started to attach it to a message to the whole
group, but it's a 388k pdf file and wondered if it might be bad to send a
file even of that smallish size out to all of youse guys...)

It's a great circuit though... Lemme know. It's tricky to search through all
of those schematics and diagrams to find just the right one and I have it in
a place where I know exactly where it is. (Because I turned all of the
important files that I'd want to use to make one into handy pdf files with
informative titles...) Some day I hope to build the whole damned vocoder,
but the noise circuit can stand on its own as a good digital noise unit.

cheers,
Anthony
