[sdiy] MM5837N noise generator... any for sale ? alternatives ?

It is so bad that it was in the first generation Mono/Poly and was 
replaced by an analog noise generator in later models. The digital 
noise sounds like a train, it's *so* bad (in the traditional sense of 
"bad" meaning "not good").

One mildly interesting thing about the 5837 is that -- as far as I 
can tell -- the clock frequency is dependant on the supply voltage, 
meaning that you can vary the voltage to get different sounds. 
Meaningless with regard to the P5 but possibly of interest to experimenters.

The 5837 (or any digital source with a short bit length) is 
potentially interesting as an input to a sample and hold, because you 
can get "random" patterns that repeat. I think that Buchla had some 
sampled digital noise modules that worked along those lines.

In the P5 you should just install an analog noise source, IMHO.
