The approach I take is that if the company is still prepared to sell me a 
copyrighted item, such as a service manual, then I will buy one from them. 
If they are not, for example they are out of business, then I will try to 
source one from the web. Once the rights owner is no longer selling copies 
of a copyrighted work, then as far as I am concerned copyright is no longer 
serving its intended purpose and the work 'should' be considered a 
free-for-all.

In this case, Yamaha were quite happy to sell me a copy of the Yamaha 
CS-15D service manual when I called them up just now, and I suggest that 
anyone else interested does the same.
