Unless I'm very much mistaken, the fdiskc site doesn't have the service
manual for the CS-15D. It has the CS-15 and the CS-20M/-40M but not the
dual channel preset / variable CS-15D.
I have been examining the CS-15D at the weekend and the findings have been
quite interesting. Channel 1 is the preset channel, which may use one of 15
preset sounds. Some of those sounds seem to use synthesizer features which
are not available from the variable controls on Channel 2, so that it is
impossible to create these sounds on Channel 2. For example, 'Oboe' on
Channel 1 seems to use a band pass filter setting which is not available
from the variable controls.
Once I'd been through all the preset sounds to find out what footage each
sound uses, it became much easier to get interesting sounds out of the
machine. Footages available are 32', 16', 8', 4' and 2'. By combining two
sounds with adjacent or identical footages, some quite pleasing sounds
emerge.
