Why not make it a double oven? Achieving mK stability is possible. What 
is tricker is to ensure that there is no temperature gradients, but 
using temperature gradient compensated pairs like MAT-01 should help of 
course. A good voltage reference will also help. However, ovenizing 
comes at a cost and Jim's approach is better in this context.

Wish I had one of those to test out.
