A polysix is really nice sounding. Though it is limited by only one 
envelope and only one VCO per voice
If you want a musical instrument, then get the money and buy a restored 
Polysix.
If you want something to fiddle around on your workbench, which will 
make a sound some day ;-) then look for a broken polysix with the 
typical battery leakage problem. Either you will be able to repair the 
board, or you may do, what I am planning to do:
I want to use it without the programmer board. Simply only with manual 
setting. This requires to add some circuits that originally are located 
on the programmer board (CPU reset, LFO, some parts of the Envelope 
amount levels). After that I want to establish individual controls for 
the VCO parameters (and maybe even for the other parameters). I have a 
MonoPoly and I am a big fan of the arpeggiator with different VCO 
settings. To have this with polyphonic VCF and VCA settings would be great.
