Argh! I remember doing some work on the AT&T DSP3210 many years ago.
They also required the assembler to resolve pipeline latency. Made
hand-coding an 'interesting' experience - lots of NOPs required.
Anyway, these are based on the 'C2000 architecture, not 'C5000. No idea
what that implies about the CPU core capabilities though, and I'm sure
their press release materials wouldn't reveal any warts like you mentioned.
