In general, yeah, order of stuffing goes from shortest to tallest in 
terms of height away from the pcb surface.

I used a rack panel and a photoresist pcb to make a quad. Fairly casual 
mounting of pcb. ;d

Enclosure choice and fit and finish depends on what tools you have 
available. Kids' lunchboxes (the smallest you can find) are convenient 
as they have a latch and hinge already for getting to the battery. 
Probably would use that if I ever made another one.

If you want to paint your box, be sure to sand it and then use a good 
purpose-made primer as a base coat (i.e., plastic primer or metal primer).
