For a small number of slots, there is an old engineers trick of drilling and
filing a small part of the slot, then using a number of hacksaw blades taped
together, to form a single thick blade. If a wood block is clamped to the
workpiece, parallel with one edge of the slot, a quite reasonable slot can
be cut.
RS used to sell a nice screen printed self adhesive slider scele/bezel, that
could be stuck on to cover your cutting, but I can't find it in the current
catalogue.
