Found while searching the synth-diy archive funnily enough, which you can find here:

Search for "dave smith prophet08" and click on the first hit.

You can see some close-up photos of the Prophet08 PCBs.

As per the page here

"It features two analog oscillators and two digital oscillators utilizing the waves from the legendary Prophet VS".

So in simple terms its your traditional sample-&-synthesis engine (analogue synthesis, digital sample).

All the above is based on details found online - I don't have an Evolver to prove any of the above.  Google is your friend.
