In a similar vein:

I’ve never seen these guys mentioned anywhere, has anyone tried their ICs?
They carry a lot of replica chips: Quad VCAs, BBDs, OTAs, Companders, even a
DSP chip.

-> Ian,
->
-> I've used both the SSM2164 and SSM2018, and they're easy to get
-> running. The 2018 is a really nice VCA, cleaner-than-clean.
-> "Transparent" is probably the word you'd use in marketing hype.
-> SSM2164 is good too, but cheaper. Mainly I've been using that for
-> transconductance cells in a VCF design.
->
-> I've also used the THAT 2162 (a dual 2180-style VCA). Seems like a
-> good chip, but the SMD package is a pain. Next time I'll either get a
-> professional board done for it or use something larger.
->
-> In the UK, Farnell sell SSM2018, SSM2164 and THAT 2180. RS also have
-> some SSMs. Prices are around £4 per chip (which makes 2164 much
-> cheaper per VCA).
