thanks for great advice
my value was ALSO that i spent months figuring out the best way to get the guitar controlling the synth which i dare say works really damn well now. that was the main thing i did. only with cookbooks and i stand by it as mine. (you know what i mean. i mean something i dont want others to steal without asking)
the asm would only be useful if i could have its modules interact the way i need them to
which as long as they have sufficient cv ins should be easy. worst case, i order it to use for basics and then do the rest on stripboard or hom etch. sounds great to me. i would really only need the

So building it into a case and selling it as a product in its own right is fine, even with your name on the front. You have not copied it, you have not violated any trademarks, you have not infringed anyone's patents.

> As an example, suppose 'Joe' buys my Jen SX1000 MIDI kit. Fine, I've made my money, they get a populated PCB. If they then offer a service to install it in someone's synth, thats fine. If they sell it on, perhaps via eBay, that's fine. If they install it into a Jen and then sell that on, that's fine.

> As for Dan's situation, I would say his added value (i.e., what he is being paid for) is in him doing the building work for his customer, so buying in modules and/or PCBs should be OK.
