The main issue is that (at least in US), you cannot find "off-the-shelf"
*log pots* in Spectrol 148/149. So, you have to use the 248J part, that has
plastic threads (not that big a deal, but annoying).

Subject: [sdiy] Spectrol 148/149 vs 248/249 vs Bourns 90s...
Hi,
I'm trying to make a pot decision between
Spectrol and Bourns, and also find ways of
getting them to a decent price (I'm in Europe),
but I'm literally drowning in numbers and letters
and prices and models... and people's varying opinions.
Spectrol 148/149 series seem generally more
expensive than Bourns 90 series, but there's also
a Spectrol 248/249 series which seems to be some
cheaper version of the 148/149. Any more knowledge or general opinions on
this?
I'm quite open to any type of do´s and don't´s right now, I'm afraid. :-)
Thanks,
/mr
