So far as irons themselves go, I'm very happy with the secondhand hakkos
from a government auction.
Have replaced the tips a couple of times over the years - but this is a
manufacturing environment.
I never use them as prybars - that is the sure way to wreck any iron - but I
don't NEED to, because I have a kit of stainless steel dental tools from one
of the surplus stores. Dental picks are just fantastic for repair work.
I bought a cheap KADA SMT rework from Hong Kong - haven't needed to use it
yet, but the guy who borrowed it liked it so much that his workplace bought
one as well.
