[sdiy] Balance and Strobe pins on LM311 - what to do if you don't need them?

What's the best thing to do with these if you're not using any of the  
Balance/Strobe features?

I get the impression that people leave them unconnected; http://www.circuitstoday.com 
  on April 10, Light activated switch gives a circuit in which "The  
pin 5&6 (Balance & Balance/Strobe ) of IC LM311 are shorted to  
minimize the chance of oscillations," and the front page of the  
datasheet seems to suggest tying them both to the positive rail to  
"increase typical common mode slew."
